Football Coaches and their headsets

Why do football coaches wear those big, gaudy headsets on the sidelines?

Heck, my Bose QuietComfort® Earbuds are better quality than anything they sport these days. Right?

Not to mention (but I’m going to mention!), most of those headsets are ugly and goofy looking, and not very comfortable. Surely they care?
