Do you fear acknowledging that you don’t know?

Okay, so I asked you a question that you don’t know the answer to.

Do you fake it? Can I see through your ruse?

Do you give the answer a valiant try? What if you’re wrong?

Do you just say, I don’t know.

I go with #3. It’s okay to not know every answer to every question. It’s okay to not be the smartest person in the room.

For me, the right answer is, What a great question! I’ll find out the answer and then follow-up with you.

Honesty. Clarity. It always works for the psyche of our audiences.
