(A.K.A. The Accidental Soundtrack of Christmas Chaos)

There we were – strolling through the Grand Marché de Noël de Montréal, soaking in the warm glow of string lights and the sweet perfume of holiday treats – when a plume of fragrant, smoky air drifted across the walkway. Chestnuts! Actual roasting chestnuts. Like the song. Like the postcard. Like the Christmas fantasy your inner eight-year-old still believes in. Naturally, I hit record. What I didn’t notice until later 🤣 the completely unhinged music playing behind the booth. Only at a Montreal Christmas festival can you capture a scene straight out of Dickens … scored like a fever dream. Merry Christmas to us all 🎄

Absurd soundtrack aside, the moment was pure holiday magic. There’s something about roasting chestnuts that feels timeless – like the city itself slows down just long enough for you to savor a small, warm, delicious moment. And that’s what this season is all about, isn’t it? Gathering close, laughing harder than you planned, indulging in good food, good company, and the little surprises that make travel unforgettable. Life’s not still – and neither, apparently, is the playlist at a Quebec Christmas market. #LifeInMotion
