Before the evening got fancy, the moment got real.
Nicole and I were in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, catching up with our friends Chip and Stephanie. They invited us down that afternoon for a casual happy hour on their back deck – and honestly, it ended up being one of those simple, perfect pauses in the day.
The pool sparkled in the late winter sun in January. Glasses were filled. Laughter came easy. And the coastal breeze? It knew exactly how to set the mood.
Later that evening, we’d head to a fundraiser in Manteo with Chip and Stephanie – but this was the warm-up. The grounding moment before the more polished one.
It reminded us how important it is to take the pause. To let life settle in. To enjoy the in-between.
