We need your help! Light rail in Norfolk has been a positive push toward regionalism in Hampton Roads – but the 7 mile stretch of The Tide is only a start. Yes, Norfolk is pushing forward with plans to connect the Norfolk Naval Base and Ocean View to the downtown area.
Our Virginia Beach brothers and sisters are voting on a referendum on November 6th to allow their City Council to pursue funding options to connect to The Tide at Norfolk’s Newtown Road station. Let’s help them push forward.
- Yard Signs:
- We have great yard signs and our goal is to get them into neighborhoods in Virginia Beach. If you can help hand them out to friends, co-workers, family members who live in Virginia Beach, that is great. You can ask for one by emailing us at email@example.com.
- Social Media:
- We have a great Facebook page that is getting a lot of virality. But, we need your help. If you would like us on Facebook and do at least a weekly posting on your page to our page, that increases the number of folks who see us. It is amazing, but there are still people who don’t even know we are having a referendum. And, they are more likely to be Facebook users. So this is a link that even if you are not on Facebook will get you there. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.469903323043497.110620.166518366715329&type=1&l=49c11a639d Our Facebook page is LightRailVB.
- Poll Workers:
- Anyone can sign up to work at our website http://lightrailnowvb.org/get-involved and click on the volunteer form at the top or you can email Judy Welp at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be doing poll worker training the week before at a number of times and locations.
- Newtown Road Campaign:
- The Tide riders coming and going from Newtown Station are mostly Virginia Beach residents. We need volunteers to go to the Newtown Station and hand out information to get them to vote, put out yard signs, window clings, and recruit poll workers. If you can take a shift to talk with folks coming off The Tide, that would be great.
