Transportation Town Hall Meeting & Panel Discussion at CNU Today

According to a press release from the Daily Press:

The Daily Press and the Wason Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University are hosting a “Transportation Town Hall” meeting and panel discussion from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 4. Five panelists with extensive knowledge and experience on the issues will be the featured speakers:

  • Hampton Mayor Molly Ward, chair of the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization
  • Portsmouth Mayor Kenneth Wright
  • Camelia Ravanbahkt, deputy executor director of the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization
  • Alan Witt, CPA, former member of the Commonwealth Transportation Board
  • Aubrey Lane, Hampton Roads representative on the Commonwealth Transportation Board

In addition to offering their remarks, panelists will field questions about transportation-related issues. The panel format will provide frank discussion of the most important topics — outside of the political theater and party-related wrangling of the General Assembly.  Topics will include the following:

  • The state of transportation in the Commonwealth
  • Aging infrastructure, deferred maintenance and the cost of new construction
  • Fiscal constraints and the funding dilemma
  • Regional project priorities
  • Short-term solutions and congestion pricing
  • The relationship of the Public-Private Transportation Act, the Virginia Department of Transportation and the HRTPO

Questions may be submitted in advance to Rebecca Troyer, Questions to be submitted to panelists will be selected by the Daily Press.
