Outlook for Windows RT (Microsoft Surface) on the way?

Microsoft 8 Surface TabletThis is way cool. Any Outlook email, scheduling, task user will tell you that we’re spoiled by the best product on the market with no competitor.

When my new Surface tablet arrived a couple of months ago with Windows Live Mail installed, I was quite disappointed.

This news is exciting. Outlook RT will move the Surface another step closer to being a product to replace a business laptop while traveling.

Mary Jo reports:

This “Outlook RT” would run on Microsoft’s ARM-based Surface RT devices, as well as any/all other ARM-based Windows RT tablets and PCs . . . for now, Microsoft doesn’t include Outlook as part of the Office Home & Student 2013 RT suite that it bundles with the Windows RT operating system. Only Word RT, Excel RT, PowerPoint RT and OneNote RT are included.

I looked into one, I like the physical design, I am just not a big fan of the tiles. for me, I want less social interaction. I get enough, just from my phones widgets.

    • On almost every level, this tablet is the ultimate in the class. But yes, to your point, you must be willing to move forward to the tile design. WIN8 / WIN RT does have a Desktop feature that switches back to the WIN7 look. It works nicely.

In defense of your point, I can’t see myself using the tile design for business. It’s definitely built around the social demands of the general public. Which is probably the main reason why I’ll be switching to the HTC Windows Phone 8X from the BlackBerry Bold 9900 (combination BB keyboard and touchscreen).
